The only other thing I can think of is that the wiring somewhere in your loom is damaged. Since you mentioned that you've confirmed it works when using a remote but not with the switch that would indicate that problem is somewhere between the jacks and the switch.

Can the jack be operated manually? Try using the manual crank that was included with the jack to ensure the mechanism is operating freely.
It may sound very obvious, but make sure the trailer mounted battery is fully charged and that the wire connection to the battery is secure.
